Aguirre Avenue in BF Homes, ParaƱaque is home to numerous hole-in-the-wall restaurants, family-owned establishments and unique dining spots that will suit your varied taste and budget. The delicious Mango Bravo from Conti's originated from this side of town and is probably the most famous contribution of this food mecca to the restaurant industry.
We initially planned to have lunch at the most talked about restaurant in BF nowadays -- The Girl + The Bull, the brainchild of a young couple with no formal training but only love and passion for good food, only to find out that it's closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Desperate for anything to fill in our empty stomachs, we spotted a ramen place across the street and decided to give it a try.
On
the opposite end of Aguirre Avenue, right past the Aguirre-El Grande
intersection traffic light, is The Girl + The Bull. It was talked about
when it opened early this year, run by a couple barely out of college;
the guy loves to cook, with no formal training, and his girl helps him
run the resto.
Even its service staff is so young that I had to ask them if they had graduated from high school. They seem to be college kids out to learn and enjoy themselves.

Mensakaba Geishu is a 12-seater ramen bar run by Hiro, the Japanese chef with his wife Alyn. This quaint restaurant also offers a selection of yakitori, gyoza and donburi for people who can't live without rice. What I love about Mensakaba is the affordability of their ramen as no bowl goes for more than Php270 but at the same topnotch quality you can find at more expensive restaurants!

The Gyoza was served piping hot but I wasted no time and dipped one to the sauce I mixed while waiting. The crust had a nice crunch and the pork filling was quite tasty.

Aruba Soba is the only soupless ramen off the menu with a special oil-based sauce, Aji Tamago and slices of Chashu that got me excited and intimidated at the same time. The noodles was cooked to a perfect bite and the vegetables gave the dish extra flavor and crisp on every bite. Though the dish was oil-based, I never felt heavy or umay after finishing the entire bowl by myself.
I love finding hole-in-the-wall surprises like Mensakaba Geishu and I can't wait to explore more of BF Home's best-kept secrets!
