Cebu Pacific will now fly to Siem Reap, Cambodia!

I've been dreaming of visiting Angkor Wat in Cambodia ever since I saw it in Nat Geo, so last May, I finally followed my heart and booked a flight via Air Asia during one of their promos (we took Cebu Pacific from Manila to Kuala Lumpur because its such a hassle to take Air Asia from Clark).

Angkor Wat

Angkor Thom

Banteay Srei

But now, there's no need to travel all the way to Malaysia or anywhere else for that matter, because the Philippine's leading low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific Air will be operating direct flights to Siem Reap, Cambodia from March 2012. And not just that, starting today until the 29th, they are offering a promotional one-way fare of only Php888! Nice Juan!

Sale Period: January 26 - 29, 2012

Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

Yesterday, a colleague asked me if I've been to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.  I said, "Yes, I went there back in 2009 with friends."  Then she said, "What are the places we can visit there?"  It took me a while to answer, because honestly, I can't remember anything!  I just told her "I'll get back to you, I have to refresh my memory first."

Kota Kinabalu in 2009

I looked for my photos and tried to recall the things we did and places we visited.  They have no plans of climbing Mt. Kinabalu so they will spend most of their time roaming around the area just like we did.

With Mader Ambet and Alma on board Cebu Pacific flight to Kota Kinabalu

A friend booked us at Hyatt Regency which is one of the best
hotels there.  Everything is just walking distance.

We were not able to try out the hotel's facilities because we were always out.

This vacant lot during the day turns to a night market at 6pm every night where
you can dine and buy food and souvenirs.

Pictorial galore!

By the Bay.

We were lucky Charles & Keith was on sale at Bintang Warisan mall so we
hoarded on shoes! *wink*

Every Sunday morning, the length of Gaya Street is closed off to traffic to give way to the Sunday Market. Shop for anything under shady trees and over-sized umbrellas.  From batik sarongs, fruits and flowers, arts and craft, footwear, antiques and souvenirs, cakes, even pets and herbs!

The Gaya Street Fair is on every Sunday from 6.30 am to 1.00 pm

At Gaya Street Sunday Market.

We were told that one of the attractions that you shouldn't miss when in Kota Kinabalu is the beach.  But upon seeing the photos, I say we still have the best beaches in the country so we passed.

The view from our room.

Three days in Kota Kinabalu and we did no tiring activities, no adventures.  Just pure relaxation.

CEB Goes Lite on All Fares

This replaces Cebu Pacific's Go-Lite fares.  Introducing.. LITE FARE!

Starting April 1, Cebu Pacific, the country’s largest airline, will offer Lite Fares on all flights. These Lite Fares exclude free baggage allowance, but are reduced by as much as 33% to continue encouraging travel, tourism and trade.

Domestic flights are lowered by as much as P350, and international flights are lowered by as much as P800.  Under Lite Fares, which permanently replaces the popular ‘Go Lite’ fares, CEB passengers have to avail of Prepaid Baggage Allowance, similar to prepaid cellular loads, if they want to check in bags.

Passengers on domestic flights can choose between Small for 15 kilos (P150), Standard for 20 kilos (P250), Medium for 25 kilos (P450) and Large for 30 kilos (700).  Meanwhile, passengers on international flights can choose between Small for 15 kilos (P350), Standard for 20 kilos (P500), Medium for 25 kilos (P750) and Large for 30 kilos (1,000).

Those with excess kilos upon checking-in at the airport will pay P150 per kilo for domestic flights and from P250-P600 per kilo for international flights, depending on the distance of the destination.

Checked-in bags without Prepaid Baggage Allowance will be charged P400 for the first 15 kilos and every excess kilo will be charged according to standard excess baggage rates. Hand-carried bags are still allowed, but limited to 7 kilos.
