Frappuccino Happy Hour

Every Monday starting today until the 28th of May, Starbucks will offer half-priced Frappuccino blended beverages between 2:00 to 6:00 PM only.

Coffee lovers now have something to look forward to on that dreadful Sunday night.

My friends love food, dessert and coffee. When Deng had her despedida, we had dinner at Guilly's Island, dessert at Iceberg's and stayed the rest of the night at Starbucks for coffee and more kwentuhan.

There's something about coffee and my tummy that never get along. So whenever I go to Starbucks, my order must always be something tea-based.

Last shot before going home.

That's Halley after a couple of sips from her mom's coffee at 12 midnight. I wonder what will happen if we made her have her own cup..

Old and New at A-Won

Its nice to try something new, but there are times when you just want to go back to where you had the perfect time and the most amazing meal.

That is what A-Won is to us. The best Korean restaurant we've tried so far.

Service is impeccable as usual. Though there are dishes on the menu that the waitresses had to ask the owner/manager about, but with its extensive offerings and almost-the-same names, its almost understandable they don't know everything that we ask them.

We started off with the wide array of appetizers then ordered some new and old dishes we've tried in the past.

Banchan (Korean side dishes)

The sushi and sashimi were not the freshest especially the Tuna in the Temaki but we like raw fish so much that we couldn't care less.

Salmon Sashimi

Tuna Temaki

Same goes for the Yukhoe. My previous visits left me speechless but this time was quite disappointing.

Yukhoe (Korean Raw Beef)

Well, you can't go wrong with Bibimbap right?

Bibimbap

We went back a few days after but was too hungry to take pictures of the food and was only able to take a photo of the aftermath.

What was left of the two orders of Marinated Short Ribs perfectly grilled for two hungry carnivores.

Tempura Japanese Grill

We went to Tempura Japanese Grill with the thought that tonight will be an Eat-All-You-Can night of Sashimi, Sushi, Tempura, Gyoza, Yakisoba, Teppanyaki and more, only to find out that the idea's so 2011. The promo ended sometime last year.

Since we were already seated and there's no turning back (we were tired and hungry), we just browsed the menu and ordered ala carte.

First to arrive was a plate of Salmon Sashimi which we finished in no time.

Salmon Sashimi

The moment I read Shrimp + Cream Cheese + Mango + Bacon, I knew this was the one. And I was right! Except for too much Mayo toppings, this is a sure hit among kids and adults as well.

Uncle Sam's Maki

The Spicy Caterpillar Roll took a while to be liked, I mean you can't go wrong with Unagi, Mango and Cream Cheese for sure. But this one's too spicy even for someone who loves spicy food like myself.

Spicy Caterpillar Roll

DB kept the Tempura Bento all for himself. Well, I'm not into Tempura to begin with so I guess that's why he never bothered to ask me to try it.

Tempura Bento

Another success to a near-fail dinner attempt. Thank you food angel!

Eat Well and Be Happy

Two important things to make a healthy mind, body and soul.

I believe that being happy is a state of mind. If you think positive thoughts, you will attract good vibes and happiness will come almost naturally. So in our attempt to eat healthier, we made our way to Eat Well's newest branch in the Mall of Asia. With its simple yet delicious fares at affordable price tag, I don't get why it doesn't draw much attention as compared to the other branches. In the couple of times I've been here, the most number of tables I've seen occupied is four, all of which are during lunch time.

On the other hand, it didn't took long before the waitress finally placed our orders on the table.

I don't eat much vegetables as I need to but this is one thing I can eat everyday without spoon feeding. I am not really a fan of veggies ever since but I'm trying hard to make up for the lost time, thanks to DB who constantly reminds me of it.

Polonchay Sauteed in Garlic

Upon DB's suggestion, we ordered 3 Cup Chicken with Basil Leaves. I was expecting to have a fairly decent meal with this but as soon as I took a bite, I was blown away! The sauce, the chicken and all the other ingredients perfectly blended well with each other. This is too good for words and a cup of rice.

3 Cup Chicken with Basil Leaves

The reason why I barely touched the Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet. No worries though since DB is always there to save the day aka finish everything in a snap of a finger. Or maybe four.

Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet

After all the carbs, oil and fat I had tonight, maybe I should also add going to the gym up there.

Title must now be: Eat well, be happy and stay fit.

Dinner at Isdaan Restaurant

We chose one of the nipa huts in the kids' area to keep our baby happy and entertained while waiting for dinner. Bring a mosquito repellant if you want to eat without having to worry about insect bites and dengue.

We had to make sure we stay within budget making it hard to choose from the wide variety of menu. Fiesta-style dinner took awhile before it was served, I can't imagine how much longer the customers would have to wait if all the tables are occupied.

Tinadtad na Mangga (with Sibuyas, Bagoong at Kamatis)

Assorted Seafood sa Bilao

Sinigang na Baka

Pinaputok na Manok sa Dahon

Seafood Bicol Express

Thanks Mond and Deng for all the treats. See you guys next year!

Isdaan Floating Restaurant

I bet like me, you have seen this place in the middle of nowhere along the National Road in Gerona, Tarlac (its across the street if you're going to Baguio/La Union/Pangasinan) and probably wondering, is that a restaurant or a park?

My question was finally answered when we made a stopover here before going home from Pangasinan.

From the same owners of Barrio Fiesta and Singing Cooks and Waiters, Isdaan Floating Restaurant is a 1.5 hectare resto-park. With its Balinese-inspired design and huge stone statues, it felt like I was transported to Bali and not somewhere in the middle of rice fields.

If you get hungry, just go to one of the nipa huts and ask for the menu from the numerous staff making rounds. Menu is mostly Filipino cuisine like Barrio Fiesta and you guessed it, with singing cooks and waiters serenading customers tables after tables. Mandatory tip is Php20 only.

I saw the largest Koi fish somewhere in this pond.

More and bigger statues as you go deeper into the resto-park.

The wishing Buddha.

Hold the right hand, make a wish and ring the bell as hard as you can.

I've seen this wall in different TV shows and often wonder how it feels like to throw and break something to release anger and stress. Here at Isdaan Restaurant, you can choose from a variety of ceramics -- cups, saucer, plates, vases, or even a television set to throw to the wall. Just pay for the price of whatever you want to throw, shout Tacsiyapo and throw as hard as you can to whatever it is that makes you angry like "Manyakis, Magnanakaw, Alak Sugal Babae, Taksil, Father/Mother-in-law, Ex-wife, Intrigero/Intrigera" among others. Tacsiyapo actually means "shame on you" in Kapampangan.

TACSIYAPO!

I hit 5/6 Pautang

It was an exhilarating experience! But friends, don't do this at home okay?

Becky's Kitchen

A friend/client visited us the other day and brought a box of these amazing cheesy goodies from Becky's Kitchen.

She's been raving about their ensaymada and cheese rolls and wanted us to try them so she brought some. We were too shy to eat while she was still there so the moment she left, all the girls gathered around the table and waited anxiously for me to open it.

Ensaymada was not overwhelmingly sweet or moist, perfect with a cup of coffee.

My bet between the two. Soft and buttery cheese roll which gives that crunch-y feel when you bite into the sugar and melted cheese on top. Oh so yummy!

Please keep them coming!

Bolinao Seafood Grill Restaurant

From the resort, we made our way to Bolinao Seafood Grill Restaurant for lunch. Orders took a while before they arrived but worth waiting for if you ask me. Nothing competes with good food at very affordable prices, we only paid Php1100 for a group of 10 adults and a kid.

Kinilaw na Tuna

Seafood Kare-Kare

Pork Sisig

Calamares

We also ordered Sinigang na Bangus and Liempo but the guys emptied the plates even before I could snap a photo. While waiting for the bill an ice cream vendor passed by and what better way to end a great meal? Ice cream on a hot day for dessert!

Cheese flavored ice cream in a bun. Yummy!
