Hotel Review: Two Seasons Boracay

Beachfront;

Ample room space with big bed;

Pool is optional;

Big bathroom;

Delicious food;

Proper sanitation is a must!

It was our first time back to Boracay after almost 4 years and while CS and I were used to staying in our favorite resort in the island (hello Zuzuni Hotel!), coming back with a toddler in tow during this pandemic is a whole new experience. Not only do we need a bigger bed but the resort must be beachfront, kid-friendly, and with excellent sanitation records as this trip must be a safe and memorable one especially for her having been indoors for most of her life.

Having reviewed our basic requirements brought us to Two Seasons Boracay!

Pros: Walking distance to the beach, clean room with spacious bathroom, decent-sized pool, friendly and accommodating staff, delicious breakfast, and priority reservation at Barlo Lounge.

Cons: None - we hated bidding them goodbye!

Why We Kept Coming Back to True Home

 

Days after indulging our tummies with Two Seasons' famous Four Cheese Pizza and Sizzling Oyster Sisig, we decided to venture out and try something new. There were actually several restaurants on my list that we planned on checking out but some were either fully occupied each time we visit or we simply cannot find it anymore, closed perhaps? 

On our way back to Station 1 after a disappointing second attempt to dine at Maya's, we got curious with True Home's beautiful interiors and full occupancy on a late night. We took a chance to get a table and after that night, we were hooked! It was indeed love at first sight because we just kept coming back to try more of True Home's delicious offerings.

What we ordered

Mango & Banana Shake

Their mango shake is on the bland side so we always ask the server to add banana instead of sugar because our little one likes to take a sip too.

Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl - Php490.00

My staple at True Home! A bowl of mixed goodness which includes spicy tuna, mango dices, edamame, cucumber, pumpkin seeds, and wakame over rice. I love the spiciness and burst of flavors and texture on every bite - I could eat this everyday if I could!

Chicken Satay - Php450.00

Delicious and authentic as it can get - my little one's first meal at True Home.

Belgian Fries

Crispy and perfectly seasoned - the best appetizer ever!

Shrimp Pad Thai - Php550.00

CS didn't like it too much as it lacks the flavor he expected. Since we found a gem in Makati offering authentic Thai dishes, we have yet to find a place to beat its taste and affordability.

Soft Taco Tuna

A yummy mix of spicy tuna, mango, tomato, spices, drizzled with special sauce and wrapped in a soft taco - another favorite of mine! This was on the limited time only menu but I am hoping to meet this again when we come back to Boracay.

Grilled Mahi-Mahi

Another limited-edition dish, the fish was fresh and had the right amount of seasoning which was perfect for my little one's and her dad's picky palate.

Brownie ala Mode

We trekked down to True Home for the nth time, hours before our flight back to Boracay and we made sure to order their brownie ala mode for dessert - chewy homemade brownie with vanilla ice cream. The perfect dessert to end an amazing vacation indeed!

Zuzuni Hotel: A Revisit Before Boracay's Closure

With Boracay closing to tourist arrivals starting April 26 for the next 6 months, I can't help but feel bad for the people whose livelihood will be greatly affected by this government mandated masterplan to redevelop the island paradise into a more livable and greener community. We may have different takes on this issue but one thing's for sure, we only have one planet and doing nothing to rehabilitate Boracay poses a greater threat in the future.

Last January, CS and I traveled back to Boracay for a weekend of fun and relaxation with some friends. As our previous stay at Zuzuni Boutique Hotel has been nothing short of amazing, it was a no-brainer to just book the same hotel. But instead of reserving the same room type, I upgraded our accommodation to a premier beachfront room for more space to walk around to.

Best decision I made for that trip.

The spacious air-conditioned room with balcony comes with a king-sized bed with senso-memory mattress, 39″ LED cable TV, mini-ref, safety deposit, hot & cold shower, and a reliable wifi internet access. The room can sleep up to 3 adults since it comes with a provision for an extra bed.

As to be expected, service was exceptional, room was immaculately clean, and the food at Cozina, one of the most underrated restaurants in Boracay, was delectable. Boracay Favorites: Wokeria Crab Pasta House

Boracay is undeniably the most popular beach in the Philippines. Locals and foreign nationals travel to the island to experience its crystal blue waters and fine white sand. In the recent years, the surge in Korean and Chinese tourists have provided opportunities for new restaurants and food concepts to strive in the ever-challenging food industry in Boracay. Our disappointing and overpriced meal at D' Talipapa earlier that day drove us to look for a seafood restaurant worth the price and calories. Such hunt brought us to Wokeria Crab Pasta House located at D' Mall.

I noticed a lot of Koreans patiently waiting in line with us and checking out Wokeria on their phones. Good for them if they already have a following, business must be booming.

Fast and friendly service, the staff will even offer to peel the crab for you.

Cucumber and Watermelon Shake

Carbonara - Php380.00

Our impromptu dinner at Wokeria Crab Pasta House turned out to be our best meal of the day. The lighting, the attentive staff, the chill vibe and amazing food validated that we made the right choice of staying in line with other hungry diners. Both pasta dishes were seasoned perfectly, not too heavy, and had loads of seafood and cheese - just the way CS and I prefer it to be!

I can't wait to be back in Boracay soon and see the developments our national and local government has done to save our beautiful treasure. And of course, try Wokeria's other famous crab dishes!
