Bridal Shower Dinner at Watami

My friend D + L tied the knot in the beautiful Caleruega Chapel in Nasugbu, Batangas last May 18. But before I share to you how fun the wedding was, let me tell you a little secret my girl friends and I did a week before L's big day.

Together with three more friends, we all met up at the Mall of Asia for dinner. Since we really had no plans for that early evening, I suggested for us to dine at Watami Japanese Restaurant. We were famished but still mindful that the wedding is in a few days time so we should be watching what we eat or it would be impossible to fit into the gowns we are supposed to wear.

On the table

Watami Salad - Php350.00 (Full)

My second favorite Salad in Watami (Ramen Salad still tops my list) is named as such -- Watami Salad. It actually felt like I was eating my main course because the Chicken strips and Shrimp were overflowing! The vegetables were really fresh as well.

Crispy Chicken Wings - Php195.00

I was being health-conscious (for that particular week at least) so I passed on this Crispy Chicken Wings. My friends said it was good which was evident on the bones I saw on their plates a good few minutes after.

Pizza Topped with Teriyaki Chicken - Php275.00

Whenever we dine at Watami, the staff always recommends for us to try their Pizza but we were always glued to their Sushi and Sashimi. This time around, the girls decided to order the one with the Teriyaki Chicken and it was really delicious!

Beef Sukiyaki - Php365.00

Another must-try in Watami is their Beef Sukiyaki. I love that it had lots of Golden Mushrooms and the broth was not overly sweetened.

Cold Soba - Php195.00

While the girls had the Beef Pepper Rice, I settled with the Cold Soba thinking I'd be eating less carbs compared to them. But lo and behold! Me, myself and I finished the entire serving while they shared one stone-pot full for the four of them!

The calm before the storm.

After dinner, the girls and I drove to the place where the big girls and gays frequent. But I would spare you the details since this blog is intended for readers of all ages.

What happens that night, stays that night! *wink*

50% Off at Watami Japanese Restaurant

I love Japanese food.

As much as I want to eat excellent Sushi and Sashimi all the time, I have to limit myself as I don't want to burn more holes in my pocket. Delicious and exceptional Japanese food are reserved for special occasions or whenever we feel like we deserve a reward for working hard. *ehem*

You can just imagine how happy I was when The Bistro Group posted this in their Facebook account! That's a 50% discount off your bill if you use your Citibank credit card on all Bistro restaurants which includes TGI Friday's, Fish and Co., Bulgogi Brothers, Italianni's, Village Tavern, Modern Shanghai, Flapjacks and Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant.

The mechanics of the promo states that we have to spend a minimum of Php2500 in order to avail of the 50% discount -- perfect excuse for me to order as much Japanese food as I could possible eat, which in my vocabulary means a lot!

What we ended up ordering

Green Citruz Yuzu - Php145.00

Mango Yakult - Php150.00

I rarely order any type of beverage whenever I'm out as I prefer to drink water or if available, hot tea. But this time, DB convinced me to try Mango Yakult which according to the waitress is one of their bestsellers so we can hit the minimum amount. One sip and I knew I should have listened to my instinct because I didn't like it. It was too sour for my taste and the combination of Mango and Yakult wasn't a match made in heaven. Such a waste of money and calories if you ask me.

Sapporo Seafood Ramen Salad - Php375.00

Now this Sapporo Seafood Ramen Salad is one of the many things why we keep coming back to Watami. Iceberg Lettuce, Cherry Tomatoes, Hard-boiled Egg, Ramen Noodles, Shredded Crab Sticks and Shrimps drizzled with  Sesame dressing -- still healthy but a yummier alternative to your usual salad!

5 Kinds Sashimi - Php425.00

We decided to have two orders of their 5 Kinds Sashimi because we don't feel like sharing that night. No more fighting over the last piece of Salmon! *wink*

Sukiyaki - Php365.00

Watami's Sukiyaki was sweet and tasty just how I like it! Been ordering this for the last couple of times we've been here and it's as delicious as it was the first time.

Cold Soba with Tempura - Php295.00

DB and I shared this and we both love that the Soba was cooked perfectly and they offer generous servings of Tempura. One order is good for two even if it doesn't say it on the menu.

Deluxe Assorted Sushi - Php395.00

Another constant order on our table is Watami's Deluxe Assorted Sushi with Ebi, Salmon and Scallops.  Just by looking at it, you can really tell that you're in for a deluxe treat!

Thanks to The Bistro Group for offering the 50% discount last February! We certainly ate to our hearts and tummies' content without too much damage in our pockets. Hope to hear more promos like this in the coming months! *wink*

Watami Philippines

Watami, another franchise brought in by the Bistro Group (Friday's, Bulgogi Brothers, Flapjacks, Italianni's and many more), opened the doors of its store in the country at the Mall of Asia last November 16, 2012 (this a loooong overdue post!). As part of their promotional scheme, the restaurant offered 50% off your bill on its opening day! Too bad DB was unavailable that time but he promised to take me the week after.

The restaurant has a warm and lively vibe thanks to the cheerful staff who never fails to greet and smile at you at all times. I also love the efficient exhaust system they installed here so the smell of food will not cling onto your hair and clothes.

The hardbound menu had great photos of the wide offerings of Watami. While most restaurants fail to deliver the same presentation and delivery of its selection, I'm happy to share that here in Watami, what you see is what you get! Just look at the photos below and tell me if the actual presentation isn't gorgeous and appetizing.

On the table

Sapporo Seafood Ramen Salad - Php375.00

It was the first time I've had a Ramen Salad and I must say that it's really good! An excellent choice among equally appetizing salads (at least what they looked like) on the menu. I love the fact that we don't have to fight over the shrimps because Watami doesn't scrimp on the ingredients.

Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki - Php295.00

I was too busy with my Sukiyaki that by the time it arrived (additional order), I was already full. No worries though because DB finished this in no time, evidence that it was also a winner!

Deluxe Assorted Sushi - Php395.00

Gorgeous-looking and fresh Sushi is something we would never miss. It was a steal for its price but I can imagine ordering plates after plates of these if we made it on their first day because at 50% off, I would never be contented with just one serving. I love the mixture of flavors and the beautiful tiny crunchy sound I make biting the cucumber and pickled ginger.

Salmon Sushi

Scallop Sushi

Beef Sukiyaki - Php365.00

This is all me! I take full responsibility on ordering this Beef Sukiyaki and I also take full credit because I made the right choice! The sweetness wasn't overwhelming, the vegetables were fresh and the serving was good enough to share.

Good quality meals is something I am always excited about. That's why I'm ecstatic that a lot of famous restaurant franchises are being brought to the Philippines so we don't need to go out of the country to try them all.

Kudos to the Bistro Group for bringing in another restaurant to love!
