Hotpot on a Hot Night at King One

This was all my idea.

It was a cold and rainy morning. While taking a bath, I was thinking that today will be the perfect time to satisfy my hotpot cravings. King One popped into mind at once, I even wore a 3/4 blouse to work just to get in the mood of that rainy day. But when I went out for lunch, man! The sun was scorching hot! But neither hot weather nor humidity can stop me on having hotpot for dinner.

DB filled up the order slip on the table as soon as we were seated, he doesn't have to ask me what I wanted because I always have the same things all the time. We were both hungry and good thing the Spicy Squid arrived fast.

But I did not go there for the crunchy and spicy squid. I was there for the hot soup and the fat beef and the golden mushrooms and the mozzarella balls and the satay sauce.

Satay and Water

Abalone Mushroom

Taiwan Pechay

Beef with Mushroom

Gallbladder

Fresh Mushroom

Sliced Beef

Slice Chicken

Shrimp

US Fat Beef

We also ordered plates of Mozzarella Balls and Beef Balls with Cheese which never fail to burn my tongue on every visit. Why? I tend to forget how hot the melted cheese is and just bite right away!

Fresh fruits are offered as soon as you ask for the bill.

Note to myself: Always carry an extra shirt or a bottle of perfume in the bag in case you need to go somewhere else after, or people will know that you had hotpot for dinner. *wink*

King One Rotary Hotpot.. Again!

At least once every two weeks.

That's how often DB and I come here for dinner. It sounds insane how two people who talk about getting on a healthier diet will go to buffet that often (excluding trips to Yakimix and other restaurants). But then again, when in King One, I would eat as much vegetables as I can which makes DB proud and happy, so he lets me satisfy my addiction. And yes, we go here even on very humid nights.

We usually go to King One without reservations until last Thursday, and for the first time, we were seated near the conveyor belt where everything is within an arm's reach!

Hello again guys!

It is somehow scary (goodbye diet) thinking how easy I can just grab anything I want!

Half a cup of satay, 2 teaspoons of garlic and onion leaves and I am all set!

Upon seating, the waitress would hand you the paper menu where you would pick what you
like and put the number of servings you can eat. The beef, pork and lamb are on
per order basis and not placed on the conveyor.

Aside from that, you can also order one appetizer for free which varies from time to time.
For that particular night, I ordered the Thai Chicken Feet which was too hard to chew.

A couple of minutes after ordering, the first batch of our orders arrived.

DB and I love the meat ball with cheese

The meal wouldn't be complete if there's no golden mushrooms.

And we became too busy to take photos again..

See you again next week! *wink*

King One Rotary Hot Pot

Feel like pigging out? Let's go to King One Rotary Hot Pot!

One unique feature of King One is the rotary conveyor belt which makes all your favorite ingredients within your reach. And yes, I mean that in the literal way.  Though I haven't been given a chance to be seated near the conveyor belt because I don't reserve and those seats are the first to get taken.

conveyor belt
It was my first time to dine here for lunch and it just took forever for our orders to arrive.  During my recent visits, all of them during dinnertime when the place is always full, it just takes about 5 to 10 minutes for the food to arrive. But for some strange reasons, the fewer the guests, the slower the service.

So what's the best way to kill time? Bring out the camera!

Back to regular programming.

You will be asked to choose two kinds of soup for the base, we chose to have the satay soup (which I absolutely love by the way) and just plain water (boring I know, but I didn't really care because I was happy with mine).

First to arrive was the free short order of Lechon Kawali.  No pictures taken because I was too hungry at this time.

Then everything followed.  These photos were taken 30 minutes after, when I'm quite full already and remembered to take photos of what we had.

Or what's left.

raw lamb slices
US fat beef (cholesterol overload!)
love the mozzarella balls!
golden mushrooms

prawns
that's my mushrooms and soybean skin swimming in satay soup
After all the ranting, I still look forward to going back to King One, not just because its buffet, the assortment of dimsum and meat choices, the attentive staff but mainly because its the closest I can get to cooking (Shhh! Its a secret OK? *wink*).  And please please reserve a seat near the conveyor belt for me.
