Wherever CS and I travel, Japanese cuisine is always our top, almost non-negotiable, choice on where and what to eat. Browsing thru Bali's expansive dining options brought us to Sushimi, a conveyor sushi restaurant amid seas of Nasi Gorengs, curries and satay that Indonesian cuisine is known for. After taking a Grab taxi from our hotel in Seminyak, we finally made it to one of the most popular Japanese restaurant in the city with a Trip Advisor Excellence badge.
As good as it seems in the photos, the entire place is poorly lit and mosquito infested!
On our table
Salmon Crunch Roll - IDR35K |
Salmon Sashimi - IDR35K |
Soft Shell Crab Roll - IDR35K |
Seared Salmon Roll - IDR40K |
Tuna Nigiri - IDR30K |
Inari Nigiri - IDR25K |
Salmon Nigiri - IDR35K |
Unagi Nigiri - IDR45K |
Tip: As they always say, do not believe everything you read online and don't get fooled by great-looking photos! Except for the salmon sashimi, neither of the dishes that we tried tasted like real sushi/sashimi that I felt like it was a disgrace to proudly display a Trip Advisor Excellence badge and mislead customers of offering superb dishes while we tasted that exact opposite. But if you must, forget ordering anything with raw fish and just stick with cooked dishes like tempura.
Dining at Sushimi was indeed a waste of time, money, and calories. Thank you, next!
