Jatujak

You can leave me in the mall and I can stay there for hours without noticing how long I've waited.

Until I get hungry.

So after four hours in the Mall of Asia, DB finally arrived just in time when my tummy was growling with hunger. I totally forgot I haven't had lunch yet and was too occupied window shopping and watching the Martial Arts Festival (don't ask me why, neither did I expected to stay even for a minute). With fireworks in the background, I met DB in front of Jatujak where we would feast on good and affordable Thai food.

What we ordered

Pho Pia Sod (Vegetarian Fresh Spring Rolls) -- Fresh and crunchy vegetables

Shrimp Pad Thai -- I wanted to ask for more shrimps but was worried they would
charge us for it so we just settled for the two shrimps it came with

Green Beef Curry -- Tender beef in the mildly spicy but very creamy curry sauce

Chicken with Cashew Nuts -- A simple dish but worth ordering

Waiting for four hours alone can be annoying for most people, but I would patiently wait if that would mean that I got to have my favorite Thai dishes with the best person in the world. *wink*

Almon Marina at MOA

Whenever we're undecided on where to eat, we just think and pick the first thing that comes to mind. As for DB, that would be his favorite sandwich place -- Almon Marina.

I would always order the Salad and Pastrami on Rye Sandwich combo

Peppered beef slices with tomatoes, onion, gherkins and spicy mustard on
rye bread. This is good and addicting!

while DB would have the Chef's Salad and Reuben Sandwich.

Smoked ham and chicken slices, tomatoes, eggs, turnips, cucumber and peppers.
Tossed with blue cheese and we're in heaven!

Sliced corned beef topped with sauerkraut, gherkins, Swiss cheese and mustard on French bread

As much as we want to try out other dishes from the menu, we always end up having the same orders each time. Oh well, we can always try right?

King One Rotary Hotpot.. Again!

At least once every two weeks.

That's how often DB and I come here for dinner. It sounds insane how two people who talk about getting on a healthier diet will go to buffet that often (excluding trips to Yakimix and other restaurants). But then again, when in King One, I would eat as much vegetables as I can which makes DB proud and happy, so he lets me satisfy my addiction. And yes, we go here even on very humid nights.

We usually go to King One without reservations until last Thursday, and for the first time, we were seated near the conveyor belt where everything is within an arm's reach!

Hello again guys!

It is somehow scary (goodbye diet) thinking how easy I can just grab anything I want!

Half a cup of satay, 2 teaspoons of garlic and onion leaves and I am all set!

Upon seating, the waitress would hand you the paper menu where you would pick what you
like and put the number of servings you can eat. The beef, pork and lamb are on
per order basis and not placed on the conveyor.

Aside from that, you can also order one appetizer for free which varies from time to time.
For that particular night, I ordered the Thai Chicken Feet which was too hard to chew.

A couple of minutes after ordering, the first batch of our orders arrived.

DB and I love the meat ball with cheese

The meal wouldn't be complete if there's no golden mushrooms.

And we became too busy to take photos again..

See you again next week! *wink*

The Original Savory

Its one in the afternoon and we still haven't had our lunch yet. We were on our way to the Mall of Asia when we saw The Original Savory in Baclaran and realized that its been a long time since we've been there. Too long that we were surprised to see that they now have budget meals on the menu. We usually pay around Php300 to Php400 per person every time we eat here and I am delighted to share that these meals cost Php155 only, definitely cheaper than your regular 2-piece chicken meal at your neighborhood fast food chain!

What we ordered

Fish Fillet Meal

Savory Chicken Meal

I love how crispy and tender this chicken is!

Lo Han Chay at Php200

Its great that we now have a lot of good and healthy choices even on a budget especially for those who avoid eating fast food meals (or try to) like us.

The Russian Cookie House

Its supposed to be a random gift for DB which I bought from one of the Groupon sites

Very nice and sophisticated packaging

Assorted Bonbons: Rum Russian, Caramel Cappuccino, Black Forest,
Dark Coconut and White Coconut

but he ended up buying me my favorite Pistachio Cookies when he saw my face light up upon seeing them.

Butter cookies topped with bittersweet chocolate and chopped pistachios

Because he's sweet like that.

Birthday Series: Mangan

And the celebration continues..

I know its been three weeks since my birthday, but it wouldn't be complete if I won't celebrate with my closest friends from high school.  So we met up last Thursday for my nth birthday dinner. *wink*

On the table

Kare-Kareng Buntot ng Baka

Inihaw Pyesta

We also ordered Sotanghon Guisado and Crispy Pata but I wasn't fast enough to take photos before these three devoured over our sumptuous dinner.

See what I mean?

Quality and affordability are the things that sets Mangan apart from all the Filipino Restaurants around, need proof?

Cake from Starbucks. Thanks Liz!

I wish we could do this more often, with our without an occasion!

Italian Night at Sbarro

One of the things I like most about DB is that he always makes me choose where we'd eat. *grins*

But the thing I love most about him is that he lets me order anything I want! *big big grin*

On the table

Sbarro's Bestseller -- Perfectly Baked Ziti with Alfredo Sauce

Chicken with Mushrooms -- Sauce was very flavorful,
chicken was overcooked though

Spaghetti with Meatball -- Just the way I like it, not too sweet and
pasta swimming in meat sauce. Extra meatballs please!

Mango Cheesecake -- For Php75, not quite an excellent cheesecake,
but enough to satisfy my sweet cravings

No wonder we're both gaining weight. Sigh.

The King and His Queen at Chowking

Its been a while since we've been to Chowking. I was expecting to try out new dishes but ended up ordering the same things I always eat.

Kangkong with Bagoong -- Their bagoong is one of my favorites (but my mom's is still the best!)

Pork Tofu -- Pork is too fatty, I should have ordered Tofu only

Chao Fan with Siomai -- Needs more flavor

DB on the other hand ordered Beef Broccoli.

I guess the more appropriate title would be "The Queen Who Eats Like A King".

I can almost hear DB agreeing and nodding his head constantly.

Available at all Chowking stores nationwide.

Bread Lovers

Who love breads? Raise your hands!

These are some of mine and DB's old favorites and a couple of new discoveries (new to us but some of you may have already tried them).

Auntie Anne's Almond Pretzels

JiPan's Japanese Cheesecake which tasted more like Chiffon Cake

Japanese Bread with Sweet Cream Cheese filling also from JiPan

Onion and Tuna Roll and

BreadTalk's most popular and my all-time favorite -- Classic Floss

If you're salivating now (just like I do), welcome to the club!

Two days after my birthday, my friends/colleagues treated me out for a night of laughter and good food at TGI Friday's.

On the table

Buffalo Wings -- Spicy to the bones!

Parmesan-Crusted Chicken Quesadilla -- Flour tortilla with sauteed chicken, tomato, basil,
bacon and cheese then coated with Parmesan and pan-fried to a
crispy golden brown goodness.

Sizzling Chicken Fajitas with Guacamole

Complimentary Chocolate Mousse for me. Thank you Fridays!

I love the food which always comes in big servings and the excellent service the Friday's staff are known for. Thank you for making my post-birthday celebration fun and enjoyable. We all had a great time!

P.S.  I feel so lucky to have the most wonderful boss and colleagues who also became my friends and travel buddies. I can't wait for our next adventure.. soon!
