Birthday Series: My Favorite Desserts (and the Best in Manila)

Aside from the fact that I got to spend my birthday in one whole week (or maybe more because there's still one coming up next week), what made it even more special are the desserts that I got to eat -- guiltless and worry free. It's my birthday so cut me some slack! *wink*

If you haven't tried Estrel's Caramel Cake, you're missing half of your life. No exaggeration!

Established in 1946, Estrel's is a made-to-order cake shop which has only one branch in Quezon City. Though, in recent years, the high demand of this honest to goodness cakes made them bake limited quantities for walk-ins, which also sell fast so ordering ahead of time is really the way to go. The cakes must be consumed on the day of pick up because they use no preservatives which guarantees freshness but makes the life span of the cake shortened. But hey, once you opened the box, I assure you, there's no need to put it to the refrigerator because everyone will love it!

Nathaniel's, on the other hand, is home of the finest Buko Pandan Salad in the Metro.

Best eaten when frozen, its impressive how something so simple can become a heavenly and delectable dessert.
