A Victorious Weekend at Palm Beach Resort

Endless research. Countless revisions. Sleepless nights.

I'm on my last term in La Salle for my master's degree and those are the things that we had to endure this term to be able to prepare for our thesis proposal. Since we wanted a more relaxing environment for our defense, we opted to bring the entire class along with the panelists to one of the best accommodations in Laiya, Batangas -- Palm Beach Resort.

It was my first time in Laiya and I'm glad that we trusted our instincts and booked in Palm Beach because the place and the service is so worth the long drive! The parking is on the top of the ridge but the staff will welcome you with their golf carts upon arrival so don't worry about carrying your luggage downhill.

Standard check-in is 2pm but if the room is already available, the resort allows the guests to check-in earlier. Accommodations in Palm Beach caters to all groups with rooms that can accommodate 2 guests up to a maximum capacity of 25 adults, which we booked for this particular trip.

Our home for the weekend and the venue of our thesis proposal defense.

Casa Isabel (Php31,500 a night during peak season) is a 5-bedroom house with three floors overlooking the ocean and complete living room amenities on the 2nd and 3rd floors and a pool table on the ground floor. Each room is equipped with an air-conditioning unit, hot and cold shower, cable television, refrigerator and coffee-making facilities.

As with most resorts in Laiya, Palm Beach guests are required to avail of the buffet meals in the resort upon booking at Php1,540 per person (peak season rate) inclusive of lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and breakfast the following day.

The food was delicious and the menu was well-thought of. I liked all of their buffet choices but the breakfast was extra special for me with unlimited servings of bittersweet Champorado with Dilis.

After my presentation and defense, the panel congratulated me for a job well done! I even got a 95% grade which totally paid off all the hard work I put into my proposal. So yes, it was a victory for all of us because everyone passed! The stress and exhaustion seemed to vanish in an instant that we even managed to swim in the pool later that evening.

The fun continued the next day with more swimming in the beach and loads of picture taking.

Summer may be over but if you need a quick escape to the beach from the hustle and bustle of city life, Palm Beach Resort is the best place to be.
