Va Bene Pasta Deli

Back in the summer of 2010, a cozy Italian restaurant opened its doors with a promise to serve only the freshest pastas and sauces prepared as you order. Since then, patrons and food critics all over the Metro have been raving about it thus making it even harder to book a table especially during dinner time. Good thing owners Chef Massimo Veronesi and his wife Carolyn decided to put up another branch in the BGC area so more people can try how authentic pastas are served in Italy.

I've been holding on to my Va Bene vouchers from Deal Grocer for a special occasion, which totally slipped my mind until I was reminded via email few days prior to its expiration. We're thankful though that the staff accommodated our last minute reservation alongside several other tables, which were reserved for the same purpose. We arrived early and was impressed with the fast service considering that they prepare each meal from scratch.

What we ordered

Complimentary Bruschetta with Tomato and Basil

Ricotta Eggplant Tortellini - Php390.00

As recommended by our server, CS and I ordered two of the best-selling ravioli off the menu -- the Ricotta Eggplant Tortellini (light arrabiata sauce, basil pesto and pecorino cheese) and Veal Cheeks Ravioli (portobello mushroom sauce, veal juice and parmesan cheese). Both were exceptionally good and one can tell that Va Bene does not scrimp on ingredients and only uses the best there is available. The Veal Cheeks Ravioli was rich and savory while the Ricotta Eggplant was a bit on the spicy side but equally delectable. I was glad we ordered both so there was a balance in flavors.

Va Bene Pasta Deli definitely lives up to all the hype ever since it opened 5 years ago. Will be back very soon to try more delicious pasta and other Italian favorites!
