A Taste of CDO

Ever since I started researching for our Cagayan de Oro trip, foodies -- both locals and tourists have somehow came into an agreement that the trip would not be complete without trying out Bigby's Cafe and Restaurant.

"The Bigby's Cafe concept was first introduced in the city of Cagayan de Oro in December 08, 1998 by Henrik Kelly Yu, Joanna Cris Yu and Catherine Genabe.  The long time friends came up with an idea of creating an atmosphere fit for an adventure into the different cuisines of the world.  The menu, the interior design and service style were created to position the concept midway between fine dining and fast-casual dining.  This format has developed into the Bigby's Cafe and Restaurant system."

So imagine my delight when I saw Bigby's at the Mall of Asia!

They serve hungry-man sized Mexican, American, Filipino and Italian dishes and desserts that are easy on the pocket! The menu is almost the same as what you can order at T.G.I. Friday's minus the hefty prices.

Tijuana quesadillas.  The ultimate hot and crisp flour tortilla with garlic and cheese, served with salsa fresca.  Reminder to myself:  Do not order next time.

Belly Buster.  The ultimate combo of barbecued baby back ribs, grilled rodeo chops and smoky pork belly.  Served in one heaping platter with garlic rice, buttered vegetables and crispy onion rings.

The baby back ribs is delish! Crispy but tender and juicy at the same time.  The smoky pork belly and the grilled rodeo chops on the other hand have too much fat so I passed.

Are you up for a dare?

Titanic Treat, the godfather of desserts, is a 30-scoop ice cream with assorted fruit pieces of brownies, chocolate chips, cookies and other toppings dessert.  If you and your friend can finish all of that in 5 minutes, you're bill is on the house.

Lucky them I'm on diet right now, or else I would have taken that challenge myself!
