Sumo Sam

I was delighted to see that a new Japanese restaurant has recently opened its doors in the Mall of Asia. Sumo Sam is one of Marvin Agustin's numerous restaurants scattered all over the Metro alongside John & Yoko, Marciano's and Mr. Kurosawa to name a few.

Is it just me or he kinda resembles DB? *big grin*

I'm loving the chic and modern vibe of Sumo Sam! The waiters looked like they just came from a Cosplay show with the spiky colored hair and futuristic uniforms.

What we ordered

Spicy Tuna Salad - Php268.00

DB preferred this Spicy Tuna Salad among the delicious-looking Salads from the menu. It comes with 3 kinds of Lettuce served with Fresh Tuna and Spicy Dressing. It had the right level of spiciness, just a tingling sensation to awake your taste buds. I also love the crunchy, almost deafening sound I make every time I chew.

Sizzling Salmon - Php328.00

For my main order, I picked the Sizzling Salmon over my first choice of Sashimi as I felt the need for carb fix that night. It was smoking hot when it was placed on our table and smelled so yummy! I immediately knew that I made the right choice. There's Salmon, Bean Sprouts, Corn Kernel, Asparagus and Garlic Rice cooked in a teppan plate and served with a three-way sauce.

Beef Kamameshi - Php249.00

On DB's side is a bowl of Kamameshi rice served with US Beef and garnished with Spring Onions and Nori strips. I forgot to ask him what Kamameshi is so I had to my research. According to this, Kamameshi is like the Japanese version of Paella. Kama means pot and Meshi means rice. Each is cooked and served in individual pots with various toppings according to your preference. Among the most popular toppings include Seafood, Beef, Eel and Chicken.

Sumo Sam's Beef Kamameshi is such a steal! The beef was soft and tender and the servings won't left you dissatisfied.

We enjoyed our dinner immensely and we are definitely coming back soon!
