Initial plan was to take the ferry from Cebu to Bohol and spend the weekend at the lovely Bellevue Resort in Panglao. But a few days prior to our departure, we decided to scrap the original plan and just stay in Cebu because of the unpredictable weather condition. A couple of days before our departure, we finally agreed to book at Kandaya Resort, Cebu's hip boutique resort.
From Mandarin Plaza Hotel, our good friend/colleague based in Cebu picked us up and drove us all the way to Kandaya Resort. You can also arrange the pick up and drop off from and to the airport with the resort for an additional fee of Php7,000 round trip, maximum of 6 adults. The entire trip to Daanbantayan, located in the Northern tip of Cebu island, took no less than 5 hours with terrible traffic jams and road constructions left to right. It was a long and bumpy drive but all worth it when we finally arrived at the resort. The guard at the outer gate immediately checked our reservations before the van was allowed entry to the vast property of Kandaya.

There was only one staff to attend to the guests when we arrived so we had to wait for about 20 minutes because there was a couple who came in ahead of us. I can't imagine how chaotic it can be with only two counters to accommodate all guests arriving and departing at the same time. A cold glass of water/juice offered to waiting guests would also be very much appreciated.

With no specific plan but to relax and unwind, we found comfort lounging by the pool side, admiring Kandaya's white beach and turquoise blue waters with fresh coconut juice and crispy fries on the side. It was a brief yet amazing stay and I am truly grateful to have been given a chance to see and experience one of Cebu's private paradise I can now refer to as Kandaya Resort.
