Sunday is considered family day for Filipinos, for the majority of us who can't always afford an out of town trip, it would be nice to have a clean safe place near you where you can just sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of the day with the family.
I remember going to Samonte Park and Snow White Park (near my friend's house at Sangley Point) both in Cavite City when I was younger, but you can hardly see families having picnics there on Sundays or any other day.
In Manila, aside from the famous Rizal Park, a lot of Filipinos also go to Ninoy Aquino Parks & Wildlife, Fort Santiago, Greenbelt Park, La Mesa Eco Park, Paco Park and the very recent Ayala Triangle Gardens.
Abroad, I like Kowloon Park in Hongkong which has a mini-soccer pitch, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness trail, playgrounds, bird lake, aviary and conservation center. One piece of advice, don't wear shorts, or if you must, put on mosquito repellant first or you'll end up going home with red patches on your legs just like what happened to me.
