Soi -- Eat Thai, Love Thai

I had to go to the office on December 23 to get some of the gifts I forgot to bring home. It was just me and my Dad at first then my Mom came along and so did my sister and nephew. After a quick trip to the office, we drove to the Mall of Asia to buy last minute groceries for Noche Buena.

We were lucky to arrive just in time for the Grand Festival of Lights Parade that made my nephew very happy! He's fond of Christmas lights so you can just imagine how excited he was when he saw the spectacular lights passing right before his tiny eyes. I cannot say the same for the mascots though because they freaked the nerve out of him. Poor little thing.

After the parade was the fireworks display that we watched to the very end before squeezing ourselves back to the mall to look for a place to eat. I suggested to dine at Soi, a Thai restaurant I've meaning to try since it opened early this year. My nephew loves Sinigang (he's just 11 months but eats like a toddler!) and I thought of making him try Tom Yum, not the spicy version of course.

What we ordered

Fresh Spring Rolls - Php145.00

that comes with Peanut Sauce

Chicken Pandan - Php238.00

Tom Yum - Php350.00

Grilled Squid - Php250.00

Chicken in Green Curry - Php320.00

The food were generally alright. Not rave-worthy but enough to fill in our hungry tummies. We specifically liked the crunchy Chicken Pandan which went out fast and was gone in under two minutes. The servings on the other hand were quite a disappointment because I was expecting more for the price tagged on each one of it. Thai food isn't really expensive is it? Good thing I brought some GC's with me or I would feel bad paying for overpriced food when other better options are available in the area.
