Cozy and Conscientious: A Cocoon Boutique Hotel Review

Tagged as the best hotel in Quezon City by favored travel site TripAdvisor, The Cocoon Boutique Hotel was our choice of accommodation in our new weekend obsession, overnight staycations!

Nestled in the heart of Quezon City, Cocoon is known for being an eco-friendly hotel that strives to deliver the ultimate luxury to all of its guests. The parking at the basement is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. While it is best to leave your cars there for safety, you can also park along the streets. I just hope that the management already took necessary repairs of the pit by the entrance to the basement that will surely leave a dent to you car's bumper if you fail to notice it.

Upon entering, guests will be enticed by the vintage grand piano where people usually pose for photos. The lobby's decor is mostly dark wood with vibrant orange accents to highlight its chic Asian theme design while the indoor plants provide a more relaxing ambiance to the hotel.

After confirming our reservations, the staff at the lobby facilitated our check-in right away making us wait no more than 5 minutes. We were even accorded with a 30-minute foot massage for free that we availed at the hotel's spa that same night. From the lobby, we took the elevator up to our deluxe room. While check-in was a breeze, the hotel has only one (1) elevator in the entire building to service all of its guests and staff so be patient when you need to take the lift.

The Cocoon Boutique Hotel offers 5 different types of accommodation to furnish each guest's requirement. Since there was only the 2 of us, CS and I decided to get the smallest and cheapest room available at the hotel. Smallest by Cocoon's standards is a spacious 34sqm room with complete amenities such as a top of the line bed with memory foam, a 42" smart LED television with cable channels, air-conditioning, coffee and tea maker, an in-room safe and high speed wifi.

Cocoon's owners are firm believers of sustainable tourism making sure that the hotel adheres to safety and high standards of the hospitality industry while leaving less carbon footprint by reducing and recycling waste. All hotels I've been to offer complimentary bottled water but here in Cocoon, they put your drinking water at mason jars so no plastic bottles is used by the guests.

The bathroom has an open set-up with glass walls but can be covered up by blinds for privacy.

Cocoon provides Reeco brand toiletries, made from natural ingredients, to identify with the hotel's eco-friendly leitmotif. The bathroom may be smaller in size as compared to other hotels we've stayed in recently but the amenities are complete with everything we need within reach.

Two sets of 100% Egyptian cotton towel sets and soft cotton bathrobes are provided per room.

All rooms are equipped with rain shower heads with consistent hot or cold water.

More importantly, the bathroom has a neatly-cleaned deep soak bathtub beside the window and a speaker installed inside so you can still watch TV while enjoying your bubble bath!

As with majority of hotels in the area, the pool can be found at the roof deck that adds an air of serenity especially come nighttime. The adult pool has 4 hydro jets while the kiddie pool has bubblers for better enjoyment of the entire family. The pool is open from 7am to 9pm daily.

Other hotel facilities include an exercise room with complete cardio equipment and the aforementioned Spa@Cocoon which offers services such as body massage, body scrub and hand and foot treatments open until midnight on weekdays (Monday - Thursday) and as late as 1am on weekends (Friday - Sunday). Cocoon Hotel also houses concessionaires like a salon, an aesthetic medical center and restaurants so guests no longer have to travel far for their varied needs.

While CS and I thoroughly enjoyed our staycation at Cocoon because of its exemplary service and excellent facilities, its even more gratifying to know that our stay meant supporting the owners' vision in caring and nurturing Mother Earth. The Cocoon Boutique Hotel is indeed rare find!
