The last time I was here was like two or three years ago, the night of my Vietnam trip when I nearly missed my flight getting from Makati to the airport on a rainy Friday night. I can still vividly remember how spicy the beef hotpot was and how we all sweat like crazy in an air-conditioned room.
Here's what we ordered
It surely did not meet my expectations of having the best authentic Hunan dinner that night. The prices increased but the servings were less than what I remember (three dishes then were good enough for five hungry stomachs).
More popularly known as the Hainan Restaurant in Rockwell |
The place was packed! We were lucky to secure a table right away. |
Unlimited rice within my arm's reach. |
Here's what we ordered
Adobo Pig Ears -- 1/3 pig ears 2/3 cucumber and peanuts |
Beef with (Mildly Spicy) Chili -- The beef was too hard to chew! |
Sauteed Taiwan Pechay -- Fresh Pechay with butter. Lots of butter. |
Lamb with Onions -- Lamb was tender but it was too oily. |
See what I mean? |

Too bad since this was a very promising place then. Sigh. I really hope the food and service would improve soon.
